from Thankful November ~ to Joyful December…

Here at Two Strangers Photography, we had a great Thanksgiving Holiday, between the two of us there is an abundance for us to be grateful for… our families, our friendships, our health, our country…

I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to share my photos with others, and so incredibly blessed to have an amazing friend & photography/blog partner, Jeff. It is so crazy to think that we didn’t even know each other a year ago. And here we are writing a blog together, coordinating photo shoots…We were even able to spend a day jeeping together with my family this past Thanksgiving. It was fun to take Jeff out in the jeep his first time rock crawling & my first time driving. Luckily, we both survived!

As we move into the new year, Two Strangers Photography would like to continue sharing our photos, we would also like to share more photos from other amazing people too. If you are interested in us sharing your photos please email us here and tag us on instagram #twostrangersphotography. We love to find beauty in all things… and are interested to see others perspectives on beauty in everything.

We also love to challenge ourselves, because we are a lot bit crazy! Jeff doesn’t know about this yet…it will be his early christmas surprise!! I think for the rest of December we should challenge each other to photograph and post things that bring us “peace or/and joy”.  The last two weeks of November we did things that we were “thankful” for. I think this one will really stretch the imagination. Please join us, #twostrangersphotography.

We will start featuring posts on our instagram page @twostrangersphotography January 1st.

*If you have an idea for a photo challenge that you would like to see us post and participate in please feel free to share it with us.

Please scroll through the photos and enjoy things that we are thankful for….

Lightroom Dashboard & the 50mm Challenge…

In our efforts to improve our photography, be inspired & motivated to expand our photography horizons. We stumbled upon LR Dashboard… www.lightroomdashboard.com
I learned that my lens of choice is 18-55mm, f-3.5-5.6: 50% of my photos are taken over the past 6 months have been with this lens. Jeff’s analysis turned up with the 18-250mm, f-5.6: 66% as his all time favorite.
Having found out this useful information, we started discussing how it is so easy to get into a rut with our shooting. Jeff came up with a challenge to use a lens that we are NOT particularly fond of, and shoot with that lens for and entire week. We typically shoot several times a week or several times a day.  We decided that the 50mm is the winner for this challenge. Hopefully, we won’t throw our camera’s against a rock or toss them in the lake. Wish us the best of luck.
We will run another analysis in 6 months and see if we are spreading our time evenly between our lens or if that is just the way we want to shoot. Or we might find another challenge hidden in the data.

**Try it out! We would love to hear your about your results. Also, if you would like to join us in this weeks challenge, we would love to see what you create with the 50mm lens. We would be honored to feature your photos here on twostrangersphotography.

Last week Jeff wrote about Perseid Meteor Shower. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy night, so Jeff was unable to shoot the Meteor Shower. However, he did get some pretty amazing shots! Take a look!
I was MIA for the meteor shower but here are a few photos that I took last week when Jeff and I went out on a photo-drive-about.

Flowers, Spiders, Sunsets & a few extras this week…

This week Jeff and I went on a hike to see all the wonderful wildflowers, that are in bloom up Little Cottonwood Canyon. At the top is Albion Basin in the Wasatch National Forest. There was plenty of flowers ready to model for us!
Jeff captured a sunset on night out in the little town of Eureka, Utah.  An old mining town. It looks like the cemetery stepped up to be center stage for his sunset backdrops.
We also went out to go to the Great Salt Lake State Park and Marina to see what might catch our eye to shoot. And we were NOT pleasantly surprised to find, 100’s of thousands…creepy, crawly, eight-leg web spinning spiders. Western spotted orb-weavers, that are great for the eco-system. So we do what we do and we snapped our shutters and took lots of photos of the little guys. They were very photogenic.
Here are a few of our selected photos we chose to feature on the blog…
