“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers” ~L.M. Montgomery~

This fall here in Utah we have been blessed with an incredible show of colors. From the Skyline Drive to the Nebo Loop and all the Canyons we are surrounded by, this Autumn has been truly amazing. The above photo I took in American Fork Canyon near Silver Flat Reservoir. Melanie and myself (along with thousands of others) have had the chance to capture some beautiful pictures of this lovely area we live.

The fun part of autumn shooting can be thinking outside the box as these next two pictures show a couple of ideas just to have some more fun creating.

The top shot Melanie took a shot of only the reflections of fall showing on the surface of the water.

The bottom shot I took of some Quaking Aspen using motion. To do this I put the camera on continuous burst and moved it back and forth as I held the shutter down. You can also move it up and down for some other fun results.

The False Kiva

This is my most favorite photograph I’ve taken. This was a hike that was tougher than I thought it would be. (Probably shouldn’t of done it) But the reward of completing it was way more than I could imagine. To be at the Kiva was an incredible feeling. I was moved by being in a sacred place where the Indians worshiped and prayed. The more time I spent there the better the sky and lighting became. All in all, a day I don’t think I’ll ever forget. ~Jeff

This was taken early in the morning… I had just woken up, sitting there by myself contemplating the universe…(just kidding I was rubbing the sleep from eyes), it only last a split second, but I caught the magic! I love Lake Powell, it never disappoints. I have never witnessed another sunrise as spectacular as this one. I love photography and sharing my moments with everyone. ~Melanie @mamojeep_photography

Here at Two Strangers Photography, we thought it might be nice if we add a little learning lessons to our blog. We pick up things from here, there and everywhere. Sometimes, or more accurately we picked these up the hard the way…after the frustrating chaos…not before. We like to have hands on learning or learn by “oh snap, what just happened!”  Yep! that is how it usually works for Jeff and I. We mess up and then take the next 3 days to figure out how to un-mess it!!

Learning Lesson Tip:

*ALWAYS format your memory card in the camera when you want to empty the card. Never delete images on the card individually, or through your computer.

*The only way to improve your photography is to get out there and snap that shutter.

*Get creative & experiment, play with different f-stops and shutter speeds. See what kind of magic you can capture!

*Challenge yourself & find inspiration from others.
